On Jan 28th 2023, TRANUARY launches at SOUP, Manchester!

A new day to night festival led by Trans people for Trans people, TRANUARY will showcase the work of OVER 30 trans artists and activists!

For 6 each you can access 3 trans exclusive creative workshops, and for just a tenner you can experience 2 newly commissioned live art and music performances, experimental short film, an All Trans Cabaret Revue, and 4 hours of DJs to close the party!

TRANUARY and its projects have been supported by Brighter Sound, Generator, University of Liverpool's Clinical Psychology Department, and Homotopia.

Through My Eyes non conforming life drawing

Join artist @dansleftout and facilitator @blvk.velvet in a trans-exclusive life drawing session. Models drawn according to their true gender, using un/clothed, packers, binders, chest plates, wigs and more. Learn sketching and drawing techniques, and experience gender euphoria. Materials provided.

New Waye 2 Speech This Poetry Workshop

Join published poet and performance artist Day Mattar of Queer Bodies Poetry @daymattarpoetry for this creative writing workshop exploring how we can 'trans' language and convey the multitude of trans experiences. Learn writing and performance skills in an open, creative, trans-exclusive space.

Join award-winning Drag King, Mark Anthony @markanthony.dragking for a Trans-Exclusive Performance Scratch Workshop. Whether you're a performance pro or just dipping your toe, come and debut works-in-progress and be mentored by Mark and your peers. Gain valuable feedback on your work and infinite inspiration.

Short Film Premiere - Rylan Grieves: I Need To Get Something Off My Chest - A Brighter Sound Digital Creatives Commission

A new short film from Trans Musician Rylan Grieves, commissioned in lockdown by Brighter Sound, exploring Trans experiences with the body through music and movement.

Trans_Formation: Power In Community - Led By I. Jordan

Leading Northern music organisations Brighter Sound and Generator have teamed up with DJ and producer I. JORDAN to facilitate a creative space for Trans music makers from the North. Mentoring workshops will take place over 6 days to develop new music collaboratively. The selected group will work with I. JORDAN, known for their palette of raw and emotive club music, alongside guest artists Ifeoluwa and TAAHLIAH.  Throughout the week the chosen artists will collaborate to produce and perform brand new music and on day six, they’ll travel to Manchester for their final performance, opening the evening extravaganza of TRANUARY.

Bread And Poses - An All Trans Cabaret Revue

A late night all Trans cabaret revue, hosted by manchester legends, Lill and Violet Blonde. Playfully inspired by the old suffragette slogan of “Bread and Roses”, the cabaret blends activism and entertainment, proclaiming that true liberation means, not only survival, but joy. Featuring performances by Dan Chan, Liv Wynter, Romeo de la Cruz, Shakona Fire, SHREK 666, Vakka Cretina, and a NEW Homotopia commissioned work by Bolly Illusion.

Trans-Fatz - Tranuary X Fat Camp Club Night

A TRANUARY X FAT CAMP curated club night. 4 Hours of Queer Club Hedonism showcasing some of the best Trans Selectors spinning in the UK. Featuring DJ sets from Tranuary DJs, Egg On Toast (Not Bad for a Girl MCR), DJ Soyboi, and Bonzai Bonner (SHOOT YR SHOT & Lezzer Quest).
