The Superbia Weekend returns with our annual programme of film, performance, art, conversation, storytelling, author readings, history and activism to celebrate Manchester Pride.

To launch our programme, we're excited to partner with The Refuge on Oxford Road to present a free screening of Claire Lawrie’s 2018 documentary 'Beyond "There’s always a Black Issue, Dear"'

Director Claire Lawrie will join us to talk about this extraordinary film which charts Black British LGBT+ experience through the lives and voices of its diverse and brilliant subjects.

After our conversation we will hear from a selection of artists who are presenting projects across The Superbia Weekend with a run-down of all the exciting highlights.

This event is FREE to attend but please register for tickets.

We invite you to stay afterwards to meet and chat, and hear some excellent music from guest DJs Abs Ward in the main bar.

Friday 23 August, 7–9.30pm, The Refuge Basement, Oxford Street, Manchester M60 7HA

(PS: For those in a disco state of mind, Horse Meat Disco are appearing later that evening at in a ticketed Refuge event. Read more about that here: https://skdl.co/cyccTwAs2V)
