"The biggest spoken word night in London for women" (Evening Standard) returns to Manchester for 2019! After shows at Edinburgh Fringe and the Royal Albert Hall, we're back in Manchester every month in our regular home, legendary queer haven Tribeca. Shortlisted for Best Spoken Word Night in the UK (Saboteur Awards), That's What She Said showcases the best new writing and performance by women and non-binary writers, featuring iconic and emerging authors with a mix of performance, poetry, storytelling, slam and more.

KHADIJAH IBRAHIIM

Khadijah Ibrahiim was born in Leeds of Jamaican parentage. Educated at the University Leeds. She is the founder and artistic director of Leeds Young Authors and associate artist with Geraldine Connor foundation. Khadijah is a published writer, literary activist and theatre maker who combines inter-disciplinary art forms to re-imagine poetry as performance theatre. Hailed as one of Yorkshire’s most prolific poets by BBC Radio, she has appeared on many international stages. Her collections Rootz Runnin and 'Another Crossing' were published by Peepal Tree Press 2007 and 2014. In 2017 she was short listed for the Compton Jerwood poetry fellowship, and in 2018 she was a shortlisted nominee for the Sue Ryder Yorkshire Woman of the Year for the Arts.

ROSE CONDO

Rose Condo is a multiple slam-winning Canadian poet who performs extensively at Spoken Word events throughout the UK. Her show “How To Starve An Artist” finished runner-up Best Spoken Word Show at the 2017 Saboteur Awards. Her work is unapologetically feminist, oftentimes wry, occasionally raw, but always honest and compassionate.

HELEN DARBY

Helen Darby is a poet based in Manchester and the High Peak. She writes about love, sex, family, gender, philosophy, recovery and cake.
