Heard Live for Black History Month

  • Feel Good Club 26-28 Hilton Street Manchester, England, M1 2EH United Kingdom (map)

Join us for an inclusive event of true spoken storytelling this Black History Month. The evening will give a platform to captivating true stories and lived experiences of often unheard voices.

Enjoy an incredible line up of our specially curated storytellers telling you their story, unfiltered and in their own words. In addition to the line up, true to our open mic roots there will be a couple of spaces open for budding storytellers. If you decide to tell a story and the amazing audience will make you feel right at home.

Our events are as much about the joy of hearing the voices of others, of finding there’s a story in each person, and coming to connect and learn.

We’re looking forward to meeting you soon, sharing our love of true stories and discovering what tales you have!

The event is raising money for CAHN and Kids of Colour.

Rules for budding storytellers:

- The theme for this event is Black History Month. We only want to hear stories from Black people and People of colour.

- The story must be true, personal and around 5 minutes long.

- Quite simply, the stories must be 'lived, aloud and not too long'. That means it comes from your lived experience (a true story about you, not your mate's mate), be told out loud in the moment (not written down before), and take place in under ten minutes.

- No stories which could cause offence. That means no comments which could be interpreted as homophobic, racist, ageist, misogynistic, or body shaming and please don’t imitate any accents, which could accidentally offend.

We have a zero tolerance policy on anyone attending our events who uses language or actions with intent to cause harm or offence.
