Village Comedy Night 2

Village Comedy Night 2

13th November 2015 @ 08:30pm

VMFC presents...

A fantastic night of comedy on a cold winter's evening! Hosted by the awesome Colin Manford and featuring a great line up of comics, your ticket also includes food and a discounted bar. All that for just £15!

Village Comedy Night 2 is being organised to raise funds for Manchester based charity After Adoption (registered charity 1000888) to provide support to LGBT adoptive families. Last year, around a quarter of the parents After Adoption found for children in the care system identified as LGBT. The charity believes that adoption is the start of the story, not the end, and that every adoptive family has a better chance of thriving if offered their range of adoption support services.

Lots of the Village sports clubs are coming along - places are limited so buy your ticket early to avoid disappointment. Don't forget to bring a fiver or two for the raffle - great prizes to be won!

Here are the five amazing acts:

COLIN MANFORD, our MC for the evening
Colin Manford is North West based comedian (and Jason’s little brother!), writer and actor/presenter who just loves to tell stories from his own unique perspective, all areas covered from his failed relationships to his weird and wonderful family life and more. A very strong MC who can connect with any audience and can adapt to any situation, enjoying a growing reputation which has seen him booked not only in countries such as The Czech Republic, Croatia, Slovenia, Malta and Romania but also the UKs top clubs.

24-year-old Liam from Ashton-under-Lyne has for two years has been confusing and amusing crowds on the North West circuit. Winning the Manchester heat of BBC Radio’s New Comedy Award in 2012 and in the same year making the semi-finals of industry springboard the Chortle Student Comedy Awards, Pickford has continued to impress. He states his influences to be "The soft, forlorn rumblings of the relentlessly stamping jackboot of time. Russian books. Wacky, weird, legendary, mad, sick, lush stuff what people who are poor say on the bus." Ok.

Colin has been on the comedy circuit for a year now, after his first open spot and sessions at The Frog and Bucket's gong show. He's known for his warm and friendly stage prescence and snappy rate of punchlines. He's been performing with loads of comedians on the circuit, including at The Comedy Store in Manchester and Hot Water Comedy Club in Liverpool.

Howard Walker has aspired to be a comedy writer for many years, but with embarrassingly little effort. Having gained over 30 followers on Twitter, this inspired him in early 2014 to began stand up, and he has appeared at venues across the north of England, normally arriving by car.

Alex has been a full-time comedian since the beginning of 1998 and has never really had a proper job. He gigs at pretty much every comedy club in the UK and has also performed throughout Europe and also the Middle East. He's really looking forward to being the warm up act for the Great British Bake Off judge/celebrity chef Paul Hollywood’s UK tour. Having done the last tour, he says it was great fun to play two thousand seater venues, however the best thing was getting to eat chocolate gateaux every night in the interval . We are thrilled to have Alex as our headline act!
