A Difficult Translation by Chris Hoyle
After being a victim of an horrific homophobic attack in Manchester, Joe begins to deal with the death of his partner, Omar. Joe had always hoped he would one day meet his conservative muslim mother-in-law, Ayisha, and prayed she would eventually accept him as her son’s lover and partner. Can Joe reveal the truth about his relationship with Omar and who her son really was?
This piece is a sensitive, moving and often humorous story looking at the difficulties in acceptance of homosexuality within a muslim society.
