Make A Scene Unseen - Winter Olympics Special - The Ice King

15th March 2018 @ 06:30pm

Before America's sweetheart Adam Rippon and swoon worthy out gay Olympian Gus Kenworthy kissing his boyfriend on screen at this year's Winter Olympics, there was John Curry who came out the night before his first ice dance at the 1977 Winter Olympics, battling prejudice and turning the sport into an art form.

The Ice King is a new documentary that delves into the life and times of Curry and Make A Scene are pleased to bring the first ever showing of it in the Northwest to Texture, Manchester on Thursday 15th March as part of their new Make A Scene Unseen series previewing and premiering new LGBTQI films.

Before the film we'll be celebrating our new favourite Olympian Adam Rippon with clips of his performances and interviews whilst drag queen and Make A Scene hostess Grace Oni Smith goes full Tonya Harding with a new drag performance celebrating the camp history of Olympic ice dancing.

An inspiring evening showing that you can achieve the gold standard whatever your sexuality.
